How To Deal With Scrapers
Filed in Morning Must Read
This site covers how to start a blog, build traffic and make money blogging. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
It’s happened to the best of us: you labor over an entry, fill it with informative links and post it and then… someone steals your content.
It sucks, and no matter how many times you report it to the scraper’s ISP or to Google or whomever, it never seems to stop.
Stop stressing, my friends. Thanks to this morning’s must read(s), you can handle this.
First, put those scraper sites to work for you with Joost de Valk’s RSS Footer plug-in, a nifty little piece of code that adds a link back to your site. Why’s that remarkable? Because it means the scrapers wind up giving a link back to you in exchange for stealing your content.
Second, read Jim Tobin’s advice on 6 ways to deal with spam blogs. After all, as nice as the extra incoming links are, it’s still better to put these splogs out of business.

Thanks Kate! That’s exactly the plug-in I was looking for and I just added it to both of my blogs.
You’re quite welcome. That plug-in has definitely seemed to stem some of the scraping from my sites. Joost is a genius!
