I was kind of used to the old design, very personal feeling. But I like this one too. Very professional. :)

Well, it’s not quite as big as John Chow’s, but I like to think that size doesn’t always matter.

I’m fond of variable width, but otherwise it’s very nice. It seems more and more are going to fixed width - is there a reason why?

I use a 1900×1200 resolution on a 24 inch monitor. When it’s maximized blogs that have fluid length tend to projectile vomit their content onto my screen. It looks wicked stupid.

Fixed width also assures us that the page will look the same regardless of how far you stretch the width without any unexpected surprises.

I like fluid width themes, too, but they’re kind of a pain when you’re using images as part of your template, like the logo and category headings on this one.

I like this one better than the old one.

Lincoln, when I can afford a 24″ maybe I’ll change my mind, but I doubt it. I use two 19″ monitors (have for years) and a resolution 1024 x 768. I almost always have at least two active windows - one I’m working in and one or two I’m referring to. I abhor maximized windows because you can’t move them.

The problem with the 24″ monitor for me is that I’ll still want two of them.

That’s the one drawback of being addicted to laptops — making do with one monitor. I almost always have a six or seven different windows going (and a dozen or more tabs open in my browser). You wouldn’t believe how much time I waste flipping between all that crud.

Thanks, Chelle! I prefer it, too, although I did kind of enjoy the way the RSS button at the old theme followed folks around as they scrolled through the page.

Very nice. Love the banner and the money-colored background.

Monica’s last blog post..How would I ever explain this to the pediatrian?

Thanks, Monica! The banner is the brainchild of the Great and Glorious Phin from Apothegm Designs, the folks who’ve created the themes at four out of my five sites.

I am a big, big, BIG fan of theirs, needless to say.
