What’s In A Blog’s Name?
Filed in Blog Better (Blogging 401)
This site covers how to start a blog, build traffic and make money blogging. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
There’s a reason why I bought this site’s domain, as Lori points out in this Morning’s Must Read: how to buy a domain name.
I didn’t purchase “bloggingforthemoney.com” by accident. I knew who my target audience was: bloggers interested in making money by writing on their blogs.
Really, that should be the first consideration when buying a domain name: who is your target audience? After that, you simply look for a domain name that conveys the purpose you’ve set for your blog. Then make that your blog name, too.
So, what does your domain name tell people your blog is about and, most importantly, are you meeting their expectations or not?

Fellow local niche friend here!
Yes! That domain name is great! BUT! If that domain name, or the words in the name isn’t attached to each post its not doing much for you.
The search engines are reading the post title as the most important thing on your post. It’s an “h1″ thing.
Keep up the good work!

I don’t know if that’s the case, Penn. Yes, entry titles need to be wrapped in (h1) tags, but your blog title doesn’t have to be displayed along side it in the browser bar, if that’s what you mean.
I’m refering to how your articles are searched and how your articles are looked at by search engines.
Anyway. Nice meeting you, I’ll be watching your site.
