What Are They Saying About Your Site?

This site covers how to start a blog, build traffic and make money blogging. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
When someone else links to your site, it’s always nice to send a “Thank you” either by email or a reciprocal entry linking to something they’ve written, too. Unfortunately, incoming trackbacks are a notoriously unreliable way to keep track of who’s been linking your site.
So when I was reading David at Houmah.com’s page today, I was intrigued by his entry concerning a new widget that lets you look who’s talking about you.
The widget, called My Buzz Monitor, lets you stop relying on trackbacks or Technorati searches to find out who’s linking your site.
It’s free — you don’t even have to register — and easy to insert anywhere on your site. You can run it as a javascript code or use one of their several one-step installations for various platforms, including XML and Google Reader.
I’m a big believer in keeping sidebars less cluttered, so I’ve put mine on a separate Buzz page focusing on incoming links to this site. Since the widget can also be used to track keywords, the service can also be used to create a page with multiple widgets tracking different keywords like David has done.
What an excellent way to discover new blogs sharing your site’s focus!

Hiya… glad you found it interesing. I have gone through more than a few widgets (BlogRush…ugh).. this little tidbit seems to have a few ways it can be used.
Now let’s see how well it works. I found our post via Technorati, not the widget, lets see how quick it picks up on it :0)

Dave’s last blog post..Look whos talking
Now, isn’t that ironic that it would show up on Technorati that quickly but not on this widget? It’s still got to be better than BlogRush. I’d tried that at ElectricVenom.com and found it almost useless.
Thanks for the visit and the entry turning me on to this widget!
Sounds interesting
Since my page is already screwy-looking, one more gadget won’t make a difference LOL
Franklin’s last blog post..Pardon my mess!
We definitely need to talk about that layout, Franklin. What platform ARE you using?
Btw, a recommendation on your current blog header: get rid of the _ between the words. You’re killing your blog header tag with them.
That blog is a wordpress one. Browser is Firefox.
I did remove the underlines though, thanks for the suggestion

I use Firefox, too, but I’m still pretty confident this isn’t how you want your site to look.
Or is it?
Nope, but I am working on it. Honest, Kate, I am
I’m a little slow at these things, and I have to admit that blogono and wordpress don’t make it easy for an idiot like me to work on. Maybe I should have named it Work In Progress LOL
